There are few places on earth that compare to Namibia. With its seemingly endless landscapes, stark-yet-striking natural beauty and expansive skies, it is a place that inevitably revives your soul with every visit.
On this 6-night journey you will experience the vast Namib Desert landscape and the scenic wonder of Sossusvlei. From here, travel to Swakopmund, an adventure hub, with a distinct German atmosphere set on the rugged coastline.
Itinerary
Day 1: ARRIVE WINDHOEK
Arrival at Windhoek International Airport. Welcome to Namibia!
Namibia is a spectacular country… truly a land of contrasts and wide-open spaces, a sensory awakening. Allow yourself to be moved!
You have a choice of two transportation methods within Namibia for this tour:
Option 1 - Namibia2Go Car rental self-drive option, OR
Option 2 - Transfers between lodges with the Gondwana Go2 Traveller Transfer Shuttle
Upon arrival at the airport, you will collect your Gondwana Namibia2Go car rental vehicle, a Suzuki Jimny or similar. Remember that the driver of the vehicle must have his credit card ready for the collection and an amount of R 2,500 will be blocked on the card for the insurance/fuel deposit. Vehicles are available upon request at an additional cost, and we can advise you on this.
OR
You will be met and transferred to your hotel by a Namibia2Go airport transfer shuttle.
Depart for your hotel. You will spend the first night in Windhoek.

And don't forget to try a typical Namibian dish, kapana or biltong, before returning to your temporary home at the end of an exciting day.
Experience the sunset enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding valley. The Weinberg (German: vineyard) lives up to its name and invites you to choose your favourite wine from an extensive wine list while savouring the hotel’s sophisticated atmosphere.

Day 2: WINDHOEK TO SOSSUSVLEI
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. If you have opted for the self-drive car rental option, you will depart at your own time.
For guests who prefer transfers, the Gondwana Go2 Traveller Transfer Shuttle will depart at 07h00 from the Truck stop. (06h00 - 06h30 Guests will be collected from the hotel by Namibia2Go transfers shuttle and taken to the Truck stop for your departure transfer to Sossusvlei.)
This is an estimated 5-hour drive.

About Namib Desert lodge
Complementing the magnificence of a red sand sea, Namib Desert Lodge lies at the foot of ancient, fossilised dunes. Make some space for wonder. Day 3: SOSSUSVLEI
Breakfast at the hotel.
Spend the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy many of the activities in the area.
You can pre-book one of the many optional hotel activities, at an additional cost. You are about 60 km from Sesriem and the Entrance Gate to the Namib Naukluft Park.
Optional Hotel tour suggestions:
- Guided Sossusvlei excursion - Enjoy a guided half-day excursion to the highest dunes on Earth at Sossusvlei. They form part of the spectacular Namib Sand Sea, which was declared a World Heritage site in 2013. Including brunch, refreshments, and entrance fees to the National Park. Prebooking is essential.
- Morning or Afternoon Nature Drive – Discover the fossilised dunes, the red dunes above the plateau and the many wonders of the Namib Desert on this guided drive around Gondwana Namib Park. Refreshments and a light snack included.
- Sundowner Dune Drive: Approx. 2 hours, departure: 2 hours before sunset, min. 4 persons
Morning Dune Drive: approx. 2 hours, departs 30 minutes before sunrise, min. 4 person.
- Scorpion Night walk - Prepare to be amazed by the sight of scorpions glowing in the dark under UV light on a short, guided night walk (±45 min) after dinner. May only be booked directly at the lodge.
- E-Biking (self-guided) – Explore the Namib Desert in your own time on an electrical bicycle, a trail map is available at the reception. Only to be booked directly at lodge. Max 4 hours, return before nightfall. Bookings only directly at Namib Desert Lodge.
- Hiking trails (self-guided) - Experience the Namib Desert on foot. A trail map is available at reception. For more information, please enquire at the reception.

- These rates are based on Gondwana Go Card holder’s rates, if you are not in possession of a Gondwana card you will have to apply for a card at a cost of R 300 valid for 5 years – we will assist you with the easy application.
- Driving distances and times are estimated only and will depend on driving and road conditions.
- Prices for concession fees, taxes, park fees and fuel may be changed without prior notice. This is beyond our control and any increase levied will be passed to the traveller.
- All tours and sightseeing, if applicable, will be conducted in English.
- All game drives and activities, if applicable, are quoted on a shared basis and will be conducted in English.
- Parts of Namibia are situated in a Malaria area, such as Etosha and the northern areas. Precaution against this must be taken – please contact your physician or travel clinic prior to departure.
- All visitors to national parks must pay a daily conservation levy or entrance fee when visiting the parks. These conservation fees vary from park to park. You will pay these fees on arrival at your destination(s).
- Park gates usually open at sunrise and close at sunset, please verify this at the gate.
- Visas for Namibia are not required by holders of South African Passports, at present. A passport valid 6 months after date of travel with sufficient consecutive blank pages is however required.
- Children under 18 must have an unabridged birth certificate to leave/enter South Africa.
- Comprehensive travel and medical insurance are highly recommended.
