Activities include viewing spectacular wildlife from open safari vehicles in the Okavango Delta and the Chobe National Park, by boat on the Chobe River and experience the wildlife from a mokoro through the waterways.

The safari vehicles are custom-built and a mobile kitchen serves good wholesome meals and a variety of beverages. All in the true sense of African adventure, Live The Journey promises the safari of a lifetime!

Itinerary

DAY 01: JOHANNESBURG - KASANE

Flight from Johannesburg to Kasane.

You will be transferred from Kasane Airport to where you will meet your local guide in one of the custom built vehicles. Your guide will take you to Chobe Elephant Camp, which is situated on a rocky ridge over-looking the spectacular Chobe flood plains. The journey is a 60 km drive from the airport.
You will enjoy a packed lunch to enjoy en route to the Chobe Elephant Camp.
Chobe Elephant Camp is entirely built out of sandbags from the red Kalahari sands that dominate the northern part of Botswana. This eco-friendly lodge present an original design reminiscent of traditional African farmsteads. All rooms are en-suite with both indoor and outdoor showers and have private verandas to fully enjoy the views and surroundings.
An afternoon game drive in the Chobe National Park would be the order of the day, followed by a hearty home cooked dinner.

DAY 02: CHOBE ELEPHANT CAMP

Waking up early morning to enjoy your breakfast, you depart for a full day in the Chobe National Park.
In the morning you will further explore the Chobe National Park, stopping over in the park for a picnic lunch and heading to the town of Kasane.
In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to witness Hippos, crocodiles and Elephants at the water’s edge as you travel by boat on the Chobe River.
Before the sunset’s and the park gates close, you will head back to Chobe Elephant Camp for a sundowner at the pool area.

DAY 03: CHOBE ELEPHANT CAMP - KHWAI CONCESSION

After another lovely breakfast, you will leave Chobe Elephant Camp and travel through the Chobe National Park. Heading past Savute area, you will come to the beautiful area known at the Khwai Concession. Here you will find, nestled between trees and situated on the banks of the Khwai River, Sango Safari Camp.
Sango Safari Camp is designed in the style of the classic tented safari camps of days gone by. With its open-air showers, hand crafted furnishings and classic styling Sango Safari Camp aims to rekindle the atmosphere of the luxury mobile safari camps, successfully blending the rustic with the luxurious.

Khwai Consession has unfenced neighbours such as the Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park, and is a community-run eco-tourism initiative, Khwai is a superb example of conservation tourism at its best, with all proceeds going back into the Khwai Village for community upliftment and community projects.
The Khwai River that flows through the concession mirrors the surrounding marshlands. As the first port of call for animals migrating from the Linyanti Reserve, the riverbanks and dry savannahs are abundantly populated with roan and sable antelope, buffalo, zebra, and giraffe among others. The concession’s elephant herds are widespread, as are the different predator groups such as lion, leopard, spotted hyena, the endangered African wild dog, and cheetah. The concession also boasts a superb array of bird species including Verreaux’s eagle owl, the bateleur, and a number of different types of eagle.

This is a full day of driving from the Chobe area to the Khwai Concession through wilderness area, so make sure you have those cameras ready for anything!
A picnic lunch will be enjoyed en-route.

The adventure drive from Chobe Elephant Camp to Sango Safari is approx. 200 km which can take approx. 6 – 7 hours as you will enjoy game viewing on the way.

DAY 04: KHWAI CONCESSION

After enjoying breakfast you will depart to explore the water ways of the one of the tributary rivers coming from the Okavango Delta. This will be done on mokoro, which are canoes in traditional style with expert polers to guide you through the waterways.
A picnic lunch will be enjoyed en-route.
You will also have the chance to explore the Khwai Concession during a game drive.

DAY 05: KHWAI - WESTERN MOREMI GAME RESERVE

Early morning breakfast and after breakfast you will enter Moremi Game Reserve, one of the best wilderness areas of Botswana which covers swamp and dry areas. The next two days will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region.

Moremi Game Reserve is in northern Botswana, in the Okavango Delta, which becomes a lush animal habitat during seasonal floods. Wildlife includes lions, leopards and rhinos. Safari camps are common, with several dotted around large Chief's Island and the forested Mopane Tongue Peninsula.
A 100 years after explorer David Livingston called this land ”country full of rivers”, the environment and wildlife in the Moremi area were under threat. It is because of the bold, local Botswana people that this area was proclaimed Moremi Game Reserve in 1963.

DAY 06: WESTERN MOREMI GAME RESERVE

Early morning breakfast and as the sun rise, you will enjoy a game drive in the Moremi Game Reserve.
Today will also be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region.
Return to the camp for lunch.
Game drive late afternoon as the sun sets.

Overnight at Xakanaka / 3rd Bridge in the Moremi Game Reserve – Breakfast, lunch and dinner (fully service tented camp)

DAY 07: WESTERN MOREMI GAME RESERVE - MAUN

After breakfast make your way back to Maun.
Enjoy lunch
Optional activity at additional cost is to participate in a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta

DAY 08: DEPART

Note: The fully serviced tented safari, the two nights in Moremi Game Reserve, is a camping safari. The tents are 3mx3m and all have a private en suite bush toilette and shower.  Guests sleep on camp beds with all the bedding provided. This safari does not require any participation from guests. A back up vehicle with all the equipment will set up the camp before guests arrive and break camp once guests have left the camp.
